After the unexpected suicide of a friend, a group of youths are haunted by apparitions, strange phone calls, and other unexplained phenomena, and must find the source of the deadly phantoms.
What did everyone think of this?

Fantastic atmosphere. But I fucking hated it. Confusing piece of shit to be honest. So overrated. Depressing film to be honest.

Agreed on everything. When the ghosts are on, it's a pretty enjoyable entry, but it's way too long, too dull and too confusing to warrant the high praise it's gotten.

I have read numerous things on it and I still don't get it really. It tries to have this deep message (well I think, but it was so fucking confusing it got lost) . And like you said it is really boring. Quite gloomy as well. In a bad way.

I think it's one of those 'don't trust technology' films, where we're so far advanced that we can't help ourselves if our super-technology breaks down, and the ghosts are the ways of the past taking out the modern to return to a simpler life, but I'm just taking a shot in the dark at that one considering what I know about their heritage and culture, not from anything remotely related to the film since I kinda got lost in the whole thing myself.

I got lost like 20 minutes in the film. Had a hard time telling who the hell was who and they were all not making any sense half the time. I cannot believe so many people think it is a great film. I have not seen Pulse but I bet it would be a bit better.

The remake is a lot more streamlined, but it's not any more fun to watch. It's pretty bleak and depressing as well (maybe because the whole fucking movie is shot in gray so it kinda blends together with nothing standing out) and the ghosts are in the background of everything, almost as secondary characters despite everyone being afraid of them.
