The story focuses on a young woman who takes a summer job as a nanny to a 4-year-old who hasn't spoken for months and is seemingly haunted by something too horrible for words.
This is based on The Babysitter by RL Stine.
What does everyone think of this?
Read the book a long while ago. This was a genuine shock to see it being made into a film. Loved the book, it was fantastic. I don't remember the kid being mute though.
Forget that, I just checked Amazon and it is a different book. The Sitter is not related to The Babysitter. I read The Babysitter. I will pick up The Sitter and read it.

Sounds like a Boogeyman rip-off. Not sure about that, as I've heard positive and negative towards it, so I'll say interested with a hint of caution.

I don't see Boogeyman, are you talking about the ghost film?

Yeah, the one that served as the launching pad for those new awesome ghost slashers that came out recently.

I see this more as When A Stranger Calls.

Maybe something inhuman rather than a person, because we still don't know what that 'too terrible for words' thing actually is. That's whats holding me back on this one.

Don't believe that saying, I bet there is just a killer outside her house or something. I am glad to still get babysitter's being terrorized flicks. Always great.

I'm not too sold on it if it is just a human killer, way too cliched and it would drop a lot. Besides, way too easy to just say so, so it saying that might mean a ghost or a demon or something else. A phrase like that is never used in conjunction with just a person, it's used for a reason.

It is based on a book so we will have to see. Maybe I will read it.
