Castle" revolves around the Blackwood family -- primarily of sisters Merricat and Connie and their uncle Julian -- who have been forced into seclusion after the mysterious lethal poisoning of several of their family members six years earlier. Merricat is the younger sister, caring for the agoraphobic Connie, while the ailing Julian increasingly is in the grip of his own obsessions.
The plot is further complicated by the arrival of a dubious, long-lost cousin who seeks to secure the family's fortune.
Based on a book by Shirley Jackson, the same who penned the original The Haunting.
What does everyone think of this?

Based on a great novelist, may be a gothic throwback, looks good.

I thought the original Haunting was massively overrated, and this one doesn't start off promising, but it's definitely a lot more promising than several others on here.

This is not old, could be quite exiting and eerie. There is hope here.

Yeah, there is, but not a whole lot. There's tons more out there I'd rather see over this one.

This is supposed to be a gothic throwback, which I thought you loved.

I can like the atmosphere much more than the story, which is most likely the cause here. Not saying I'll hate it, but that has happened from time to time.
