While we broke the news way back in January that Courteney Cox Arquette and David Arquette were made offers to return in Scream 4, currently being penned by Kevin Williamson (Scream 2, Scream 3), It looks as if we were right about everything but one thing.... Entertainment Weekly confirms our breaking news adding that Williamson is instead scripting a reboot of the franchise for Dimension Films, instead of the third sequel. They also confirm the news that this begins a brand new trilogy. What they fail to mention is that Neve Campbell was also made an offer and that "this will be a younger version of the Scream movies," as we previously reported. Old news, with a new twist. Scream remake. Shocking? Nope. Now talk...
Can you believe there actually remaking this? This was not even that long a go lol!!!!! I thought they were putting the series in a new directing, a new Sydney? And the doggie door scene again?
lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol
What does everyone think of this?

Yeah, I don't think Hollywood should be remaking films from the 90s for at least another 10 years or so, and Scream definitely DOES NOT need oe, oh well i'll probably end up watching it anyways, but there is only ONE Sidney Prescott, and NO actress will ever be able to come close to Neve Campbell's level of acting no matter how hard they try!

are "reboot" and "remake" supposed to mean two different things? a reboot might be a little different maybe?

No, it is a word to make it seem different, all remakes can be called reboots as most are different. And I wanna see this.

A reboot means a continuation without characters from the previous installments. . .but I think they mean a remake anyway. Thats so lame. . .1996 isnt even that long ago.

They should just keep with the Scream 4, if they want an all-new trilogy, just do a 4, 5 and 6.

Well Neve Cambell won't return and Scream sounds better then Scream 4.

To be honest i'm not really too enthusiastic about either one, they're both completely unnecessary, there's no story left to tell in the franchise really.

Yes, a new teen picks the mask up and kills, sounds great to me.

Dumbass studios and their cheap ideas... I really hope that there's at least SOME chance left that this will just be a new trilogy, and not a remake series. If not, anyone who did a Scream 4 fan poster is gonna be TO'd.

I think it will be a new trilogy, how great does that sound? It could be better then the first trilogy!

If it is a new trilogy, then this is my dream come true.
If it goes the other way, they will be lucky if I even bother to rent them.

Please let it not be a remake of the first, but it may have a hotter cast? ?

A new trilogy? No thanks! This series has palyed itself out long enough, the story, I don't want this franchise to have the same half-assed feel that the Saw sequels do.

Well OK, it might be worthwhile, but I still see it as pretty unnecssary.
